Pompeii Archaeological Site

The Pompeii Archaeological Site is a world-renowned destination, easily accessible for those eager to explore its ancient wonders. Located near the modern city of Pompeii, the site can be reached via the Circumvesuviana train line from Naples or Sorrento, with the journey taking approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival, visitors can enter through one of the three main gates: Porta Marina, Piazza Esedra, or Piazza Anfiteatro. Each entrance offers a unique pathway into the heart of the city, where the past comes alive with every step.

Pompeii Excavations

The Pompeii Excavations are spread across the site, revealing the layers of history buried beneath volcanic ash. Visitors can start their exploration at the Porta Marina entrance, which leads directly to some of the most iconic structures, including the Forum and the Basilica. Alternatively, the Piazza Anfiteatro entrance provides immediate access to the Amphitheatre and the Great Palaestra, while the Piazza Esedra entrance opens up to a network of residential and commercial streets, showcasing the daily life of ancient Pompeians.

Pompeii Entrance

Pompeii’s entrances are gateways to the past. The main entrance, Porta Marina, is conveniently located opposite the Pompeii Scavi train station. For a less crowded experience, consider the Piazza Esedra entrance. If you’re coming from modern Pompeii, the Piazza Anfiteatro entrance is a mere 15-minute walk from Porta Marina. Each entrance provides access to different parts of the site, so choose your starting point based on the areas you wish to explore first.
